California’s current drought is raising awareness of the value of water re-use projects.
Orange County water officials are planning to expand a unique water conservation project in the county. Currently, 70 million gallons of waste water are turned into usable water and put back into the ground every day. Officials plan to expand that to 100 million gallons of water.
At the Groundwater Replenishment System plant treated wastewater goes through a three-step treatment process using microfiltration, reverse osmosis and UV light.
